» Detecting hot spots in an electric heater bundle 

Fiber optic temperature sensing cables will be used to collect hundreds of accurate temperature measurements along the length of an electric heater bundle. Once installed in the test unit, real-time monitoring of the heater sheath film temperature profiles will allow for immediate detection of local hot spots, which supports one of the primary objectives of this phase of testing.
