» HTRI advances seal strip analysis for X-shell heat exchangers

HTRI has launched a new experimental program at the Research & Technology Center (RTC), focusing on seal strip performance on shellside flow in shell‑and‑tube heat exchangers. While current methods are based on TEMA E‑shell test data, HTRI is expanding the methodology to unbaffled TEMA X‑shell configurations, which are widely used.

» Visualizing the impact of wind on air-cooled heat exchangers performance

To understand the effect of wind on a natural-draft API 661 air-cooled heat exchanger (ACHE), HTRI collected measurement and visualization data from the Air-cooled Unit (ACU) at the RTC. The ACU data were used to correlate trends between crosswind velocity, ACHE plume velocity and plume height, and duty.
